Preservation and Care of the Adventure

In 1988, the Gloucester Adventure, Inc., a non-profit educational organization was created. Staffed and crewed by volunteers, the organization is committed to:

preserving the National Historic Landmark fishing schooner Adventure for posterity

serving as a community resource for all ages for innovative educational programming focussed on maritime, cultural and environmental issues

operating the vessel at sea as a living symbol of America's maritime heritage

National Historical Landmark

The 70 year old Gloucester fishing schooner Adventure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1994.

The Adventure Challenge

Before Adventure can regain her U.S. Coast Guard certification, extensive restoration work must be completed. By joining Adventure's crew, you can help us save this National Historic Landmark schooner.

Become a volunteer and learn how to rig and sail a schooner, get involved in restoration efforts, meet new friends and participate in Adventure's special events and educational programs. Experience the rich satisfaction of saving an exciting piece of history.
