United States Community Page Index
PurposeHaving a community page that can share all of the local virtues with the world will soon be commonplace. Being able to look at the work of other communities makes the creation of a local WWW presence much more within the grasp of any citizen or citizens who would take the initiative. The local library often is the ideal place to start and could be the rallying point for a new community effort. The staff is trained to gather information and needs only some small WWW training and a lot of community support. Another benefit that this effort is designed to hasten is the reaching out and joining together of communities everywhere for mutual advantage in social, civic and economic areas.
NotesPlease note that because of the scope of this index, it can be anticipated that errors will be made, the worst of which will be those of omission. I know that we have not found all of the viable community pages in existance. In fact, I had the distinct feeling that new community pages were springing up right behind us. For this reason, it is extremely important to bring these important details to our attention and they will be attended to with as much speed as we can muster. As far as one page being 'better' than another page, initially it must be our subjective call to make. The range of presentations was very wide, from leading edge to pretty plain. Often however, it was the heart and spirit behind a page, misspelled words and all, that caused it to be chosen. In future edits, multiple pages for the same community could be the norm although it would be preferable for all local community pages to be inter-linked. All graphics used are linked to their originating pages. Finally, note that this page and all original contents are subject to copyright. - dcs, editor.
