And long may it stand!

As a less than illustrious student at the Castle, it would seem that there would be little impetus for my supporting it in its declining years. Yet even after all of these years the lessons learned, some even in the classroom, the friends made, and the many varied experiences of those fleeting years still echo in my life.

There is some muted talk among educators about abolishing high school as today's youth are "so much more mature" than the past generations. I laugh at this insanity. I believe that if all of us, the legions of young souls that passed through those halls of stone were to be honest, the Castle played a large part in shaping our soon to be adult characteristics.

As a result, our support should be given to repay in some small part what this venerable pile of rocks has given us, a solid common heritage. The Castle is too big and tough for anybody to want to tear down and has too much obvious value. We need to help preserve it until its mission becomes clear. And there is a mission, let there be no mistake about it! Perhaps by a collective focussing of our attention that mission will reveal itself. Collectively we have awesome intellectual and financial firepower.

I intend to help.

How about you?
